About us

ROSEX, an open group of singers from Liberec, northern Bohemia (Czech Republic), has been bringing joy to the friends of choral works for 15 years. The choir successfully gives concerts both at home and abroad. It took part in the national competition in Jihlava in 1990, won in its category and obtained a honourable mention for dramaturgy. At Europa Cantat festival in Tábor they met Antonin Tucapsky, an outstanding Czech composer, who worked in exile for a long time. The choir learnt his cycle of lenten motets with enthusiasm. The performance of this work was awarded a special honour by the jury of the Chorus Camera competition in Hradec Kralove in 1991. In September of the same year Rosex successfully represented Czech choral art at the Eurotreff festival in Wolfenb?ttel, Germany and in May 1993 at the well-known choral festival in Tours, France.

At Christmas 1995 the chorus released its first record, a cross-section of the choir's repertoir. Chorus Camera 1996 in Rychnov nad Kneznou yielded another success - 3rd place in its category. A year later ROSEX took a silver band and a special prize for the interpretation of a polyphonic composition at Prague choral days.

In 1998 Rosex recorded another CD called "Laudabo Dominum", focused on classical music. In the Bohuslav Martinu competition in 1999, Rosex received 3rd place award in the category of mixed choirs and 2nd place award in the church music category. In the year 2000 the choir premiered Stabat Mater for solos, choir and orchestra by Emanuel Astorga.

Since 2002, Rosex has been giving regular spring concert tour in the north and south Normandie and enjoys great acceptance of French audience. Rosex, together with the mixed choir Jested from Liberec, has recently several times performed the oratorio Stabat Mater by Antonin Dvorak. In autumn 2003 the choir represented the town Liberec at Keistadfeesten festival in Amersfoort (The Netherlands), a partnership town.

In the year 2004 the choir took part in the international choral festival Praga Cantat, it won in its category and also became the laureate of the festival, so that it generally won against choirs of all categories.
